Gartner's February 2026 forecast puts worldwide IT spending at $6.15 trillion in 2026, up 10.8%. Data-centre spending is expected to exceed $650 billion, up 31.7%, and software to reach $1.43 trillion, up 14.7%. Spending on generative AI models is forecast to grow 80.8%.
Why it matters
AI infrastructure is driving the fastest growth. For most businesses, the opportunity lies in applying AI to specific workflows on top of clean data rather than matching hyperscaler spending.
